Brothers Jim and Peter Macken opened the shop in 1960; Peter went home to Ireland, Jim stayed with his wife Eileen, and their sons Rodney and Jimmy run it now — the second generation behind a Turnham Green Terrace counter whose company has been on the register since 1963. The shop's own account has it supplying more than a hundred restaurants a day, several with Michelin stars and Chiswick addresses, which makes the retail queue a chance to buy from the same van the trade does. The terrace has become west London's best food street largely by keeping shops like this on it.
