Judith and Sarah McCartney run the family butchery on Moira's Main Street, tracing the business back more than 140 years and now in its sixth generation. All meat is sourced within Northern Ireland and prepared on the premises, and the shop won the Supreme Champion title at the 2011 Great Taste Awards for its hand-made corned beef. Alongside the butchery counter, McCartneys sells artisan cheeses, salads, pies, cold meats and ready meals prepared in-house by their own chefs, drawing customers from beyond the village for its sausages in particular. The shop retains its flower-decked shopfront on the street rather than a modern retail unit. Open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5.30pm, closed Sunday. The business has stayed in family hands throughout, resisting the consolidation that has closed many small-town butchers elsewhere in Northern Ireland.
