Mixed Up Records has traded from Otago Lane, off Otago Street in the West End, since 1997, making it one of the longer-running independent record shops in Glasgow. The shop deals in new and secondhand vinyl, CDs and DVDs, with particular depth in jazz, blues, soul, funk, disco, reggae, hip-hop, electronic and world music alongside rock and pop. Staff buy in secondhand collections from customers and sell them on, so the secondhand racks change regularly, while new stock includes reissues and current releases. The shop has taken part in Record Store Day since the event's early years and keeps exclusive releases for in-person queuing on the day. It operates from a single unit on the lane, a short walk from Glasgow University, with no other branches. Online ordering supplements the shop, with free UK delivery over £75. The business has run under the same name and in the same lane for close to three decades.
