The Museum of Bath at Work occupies the Camden Works building on Julian Road, built in 1777 as a court for real tennis before later industrial use. The collection began with the contents of J.B. Bowler's engineering and mineral water firm, founded in 1872 and closed in 1969, whose shop, workshops, and bottling plant have been reconstructed from original photographs. Bath Industrial Heritage Trust established the museum in 1978 and still runs it entirely through a board of volunteer trustees and one paid director. Later acquisitions include a 1914 Horstmann car and an 1885 Griffin six-stroke gas engine, one of only two known to survive. The museum opens daily from April to October and on weekends during February, March, and November, with guided tours included in admission.
