ORB Micropub occupies a former beauty salon on Coniscliffe Road and was Darlington's first micropub, built around conversation rather than screens or piped music. Seven real ales rotate on the bar, drawn mostly from small North East breweries, alongside ten craft kegs, two real ciders and a shelf of single malt whisky. The name stands for Orchard Road Brewery, a nod to the pub's origins, though the beer list changes week to week rather than sticking to one brewer. Regulars get twenty pence off a pint through a loyalty card, and dogs are welcome inside and in the small garden that opens through summer. Darlington CAMRA named it both Town Pub of the Year and Overall Pub of the Year in 2018, recognition for a small room built around the bar rather than a screen.
