Otters Fine Foods occupies 44 High Street in Oakham, opened in the summer of 2011 by Leo Sugden and his family as a smokehouse and delicatessen. The shop sells local and artisan produce alongside its own smoked meats and fish, and serves breakfast, brunch and light lunches to customers eating in, with themed evening events held periodically. Trading six days a week from a single High Street premises, the business has become a fixture of Oakham's food scene over more than a decade, without expanding into other towns. Its counter combines retail deli items with café seating, giving Rutland's county town a source of smoked and cured produce alongside coffee and cake.
