R H Bunner & Son has traded as an ironmonger and hardware merchant on Arthur Street in Montgomery since 1892, when founder Robert Henry Bunner ran it initially as a seed business and bred the Montgomeryshire Late Flowering Red Clover variety. The shop is now run by his granddaughters Ann Yewdall and Mary Bunner, together with Ann's husband Thomas Yewdall and their son Rob, who represents a fifth generation working on the premises. Stock spans traditional ironmongery, kitchenware, garden machinery, wood-burning stoves and range cookers, water pumps, and new and used Polaris quad bikes, alongside a workshop offering machinery servicing and repair. The shop marked 130 years of trading in 2022. The Arthur Street shopfront and interior retain much of their original layout, with narrow aisles stocked floor to ceiling across several linked rooms. Bunners opens Monday to Saturday, closing for an hour at lunchtime on weekdays and closed on Sundays.
