Rob Piercy opened his own gallery on Snowdon Street in 1986, three years before giving up his post teaching art at Ysgol Eifionydd, the school in his native Porthmadog, to paint full time. His watercolours and oils take Snowdonia's mountains, the Llŷn coastline and the village of Portmeirion as recurring subjects, and in 2002 he won the Welsh Artist of the Year award for Y Dawnswyr, a departure from landscape inspired by his son's school production. The gallery sits in a small courtyard just off the High Street, with the print and framing shop facing the street and the original paintings gallery set back behind it. A seasonal outpost operates in Portmeirion village between Easter and October.
