Shepherd's Rest sits alone in a field on Stonebeck Gate Farm, a 500-acre working upland holding in Little Fryup Dale run by Jill and Andrew. The hut sleeps two in a single king-size bed and runs entirely off-grid, heated by a wood-burning stove with a single gas ring for cooking rather than a full kitchen. Outside, a wood-fired hot tub and a horsebox converted into a sauna sit beside the stream the hut backs onto, roughly 220 metres from its nearest neighbour. There is no mobile signal and no wifi, and light comes from solar lamps and battery candles after dark. The surrounding farmland is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the dale itself is one of the quieter folds of the North York Moors.
