Somerset Craft Distillery was set up in 2018 by Barry and Mandy Davies at Barton Lower Farm, a working farm near Glastonbury, to produce Spirit of Glastonbury gin. The spirit is cut using spring water drawn from beneath Glastonbury Tor and distilled with nine botanicals, including apples grown in Somerset orchards that are pressed and dried before use. Each batch is small, hand-crafted, and individually numbered by hand on the label, with bottles finished in wax and packed in air-filled pouches for transit. The gin is sold in a standard 42% ABV expression alongside a 57% ABV navy strength version. The Davies source botanicals from trusted farmers, drawing on UK growers wherever possible and importing only what cannot be grown domestically. The distillery operates from the farm rather than a public visitor centre, selling through stockists and its own website.
