Gene Stuart, a country singer known for his stage name, opened a record and instrument shop on Irish Street in Dungannon in 1975, trading under his own name before the business became known simply as Stewart's Music Shop. After Gene's death in 2016, his brother Raymond Stewart took over, and Raymond's two daughters now work alongside him at the counter. The shop still sells vinyl records, CDs and DVDs next to guitars, keyboards, drum kits, banjos, violins and amplifiers, serving customers who travel from across County Tyrone for repairs and specialist orders. Stewart's does not belong to a national chain buying group and orders stock independently for each customer. It trades only from this single Dungannon address, open Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday.
