Stove opened on the first floor of 455 Ormeau Road on 30 September 2020, midway through a pandemic lockdown, and was named in the Michelin Guide within eighteen months of opening. It is co-owned by Simon Toye, formerly executive chef at Deanes, and Simon McCance, who also owns Ginger Bistro elsewhere in Belfast. The menu runs to twice-baked cheese souffle, salt and chilli prawns, roast chicken and flat iron steak, cooked with a technique the restaurant's admirers compare to a Parisian bistro rather than a typical neighbourhood spot. The dining room is fitted with custom ceramics by the artist Rory Shearer. Stove trades Wednesday to Saturday from its single first-floor room, with no second site elsewhere in the city.
