The Barn Garden Centre occupies a plot on Barnwell Road at the edge of Oundle, run today by Paul Wilson and his wife Steph. The business began in 1976, when five Peterborough Post Office workers, including Paul's father David Wilson, each put in ten pence to start a horticultural society from a garage on Gunthorpe Road. A larger barn further along the same road gave the business its name, and the centre moved to its current Oundle site in 2009. Alongside greenhouse plants, trees and landscaping materials, the site houses the Boxwood Café, serving breakfasts and lunches at tables that spread into the grounds. Outdoor furniture ranges from simple benches to twelve-seat corner sets, and dogs are welcome throughout.
