The Barrelat Bude

The Barrel opened in June 2017 in a former fancy dress shop on Lansdown Road, billing itself as Cornwall's second micropub. The single small room serves six rotating beers, all from small Cornish breweries, plus real cider, organic gin and wine, with nothing bought through the wholesale trade. Regulars know Sunday evening as Drink the Barrel Dry, when the pub empties its casks before restocking for the week ahead. An extension called the Firkin was added in 2024 to give the tiny venue more room, and the pub keeps a garden with a canopy, offers camping, and allows small dogs inside. It opens Thursday to Sunday only, with live music and pub games filling the evenings.
