The Edge ofthe World Bookshop

James and Rachael Howorth — he formerly of the Tate Modern bookshop, she a onetime BBC Radio 4 researcher — took over the Market Jew Street premises of Books Plus in 2012, a shop the Mainwarings had run for the previous twenty years, and made it The Edge of the World. The stock runs from fiction and children's books through games, cards and stationery, with particular depth in Cornish and local titles, and the shop keeps a steady programme of author events — Independent Bookshop Week is marked properly each June.
