The Lansdowne reopened in 2012 after standing empty for several years, when local friends Cerys and Tom Furlong, together with Gwyn Myring, took on the lease and refurbished the corner building on Beda Road in Canton. The pub is a free house rather than tied to any single brewery, with three changing cask ales alongside craft beer, and a kitchen turning out home-cooked food from a bar that opens onto a small courtyard. Suppliers include independent breweries, butchers, bakers and fishmongers from around Wales rather than national wholesalers. CAMRA members have named it Cardiff's pub of the year on more than one occasion. The interior is split into three distinct areas around a single serving bar, dogs are welcome throughout, and the pub runs a regular quiz alongside occasional open-mic nights.
