The Sentinel Gallery stands on Chapel Road in Wivenhoe, a purpose-built gallery designed by Laurie Woods Associates for the potter Pru Green, who spent years securing planning permission before it opened. Lorraine and Pip George took over running the space and reopened it with a relaunch exhibition, continuing a programme of rotating shows for local and national artists and craftspeople working in painting, sculpture, and ceramics. The gallery hosted 25 exhibitions in 2023 alone and takes bookings from independent curators and exhibiting artists rather than holding a permanent collection. Opening times vary by exhibition and are set by each hirer, so visitors are advised to check the current show's own hours before travelling.
