Michael Gillan's grandparents opened this bakery on Bridge Street in Ellon in 1970, and Michael now runs the counter with his wife Dawn, having taken over the business at the age of 21. The ovens start at half past five each morning, turning out butteries, pies, sausage rolls, and sandwich fillings using flour from Carr's Mill in Fife. Two delivery vans carry orders around Ellon and to local hotels, a trade the family built up from 1984 onward. The bakery's butteries earned a Scottish Bakers bronze award, and staff still serve from the same Bridge Street counter.
