The Wigtown Ploughman reopened on South Main Street in March 2025 after Wigtown Community Inn Limited bought the building for £330,000 in February that year, funded partly through a community share offer backed by around 450 local members. The pub previously traded as the Plough Inn for more than 200 years before closing in 2022. It now has a main bar, a lounge and a beer garden, pours cask ales from Five Kingdoms and other regional breweries, and runs a community lounge open mornings for meetings and groups. The building sits on South Main Street in Scotland's National Book Town, and the venture is run as a community benefit society rather than a private tenancy.
