WL Distillery

WL Distillery operates from a unit on the South Hetton Industrial Estate outside Durham, set up by founder Scott in 2019 as a North East gin producer. The recipe for the distillery's First Edition Gin draws on Scott's memories of his grandfather's back garden, combining juniper with apple, pear, raspberry and blackberry botanicals, added by hand to a copper still along with grain neutral spirit and water. The gin recently took a silver medal at the London Spirits Competition. WL Distillery has no visitor centre or tasting room at its industrial estate premises; its gins are sold through its own online shop and through independent stockists across the North East rather than directly to passing visitors. The company has since added a vodka to its range alongside its core gin.
