The Workhouse Museum on Allhallowgate is run by Ripon Museum Trust, a registered charity, and opens 10am to 4pm daily. The visit starts in the original Gatehouse, following an inmate's route from admittance in the Guardian's Room through the baths and fumigation to the cells where vagrants slept. The kitchen garden at the rear is worked using 1860s techniques and heritage crops. Adult admission £11; a pass to all three museums £19. No cafe, but picnics are welcome on the garden benches.
