Beavan Family Butchers opened in 2009 on Hillcrest Road in Abergavenny, run by Huw, Jan and Gareth Beavan to sell meat reared on the family's own land rather than bought through wholesale markets. The Beavans farm two holdings in northern Monmouthshire, one on the slopes of the Skirrid and another near White Castle, rearing the cattle, sheep and pigs that reach the counter. The shop breaks and prepares carcasses on site, with a traditional counter display of cuts, sausages and cooked meats made to the family's own recipes. Beavan sells directly to households in Abergavenny rather than supplying restaurants or a wider distribution network, keeping the operation to a single shop. It remains one of the town's family-run butchers rather than a supermarket concession or multi-branch chain.
