The Biggar Gin Company was set up by brothers Euan and Stuart McVicar and opened its distillery, known as the Stillhouse, at Wyndales Mill near Symington outside Biggar in 2021, below the Tinto Hills. The stills produce small batches of gin - no more than 140 bottles per run - along with rum, vodka and a cold brew mocha liqueur, using botanicals that include juniper, orange, nettle, rosehip and rowan berry alongside more standard ingredients. The company itself was incorporated in 2016, several years before the physical distillery opened to the public. Visitors can book a 90-minute tour running on Thursdays and Fridays that includes a serve on arrival and a tasting of the core spirits plus an experimental recipe; tours also run occasionally with a mixology focus. The business also does contract distilling and white-label spirits for other companies. It operates from this single South Lanarkshire site, with no other distillery locations, and its bottles are stocked in specialist shops and gin retailers across Scotland.
