Blas Crickhowell opened on 1A Beaufort Street in June 2026, timed to coincide with the town's food festival weekend. It was built by Peter Jones, a former RAF training instructor, and his wife Mared, a translator, who describe blas -- Welsh for taste -- as the idea behind a shop meant to offer bottles you would not find on a supermarket shelf. The 15 square metre tasting room is thought to be the smallest in Wales, licensed for up to eight people, pouring 75ml wine measures from £3.50 and 25ml spirits from £4. Around eighty wines, thirty-five spirits and thirty beers and ciders line the shelves, with a strong Welsh showing that includes Ancre Hill Estates wine, Silver Circle gin and Penderyn whisky alongside beer from local Welsh breweries. A membership scheme offers numbered copper cards and a lifetime discount.
