The Bridewell Theatre occupies a former Victorian swimming pool on Bride Lane, off Fleet Street, run by the St Bride Foundation, a charity established in 1891 to serve the printing and publishing trades of the area. The theatre opened within the building in 1994 and operates as a receiving house for touring and amateur productions, with the original tiled pool still intact beneath a raked seating floor installed over it.
