Caractère

Emily Roux, whose family has run Le Gavroche and The Waterside Inn for three generations, opened Caractère on Westbourne Park Road with her husband Diego Ferrari in October 2018. Ferrari, a Milanese chef who trained under Alain Ducasse and later served as head chef at Le Gavroche, cooks a menu moving between French and northern Italian technique on a short card that changes with the seasons. The dining room seats around forty-five behind a pale blue frontage close to Ladbroke Grove, with the pass visible from most tables. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2025, seven years after opening, and remains the couple's only restaurant, run independently of the wider Roux family businesses in Mayfair and Bray.
