A bookshop has traded at 22 Thurloe Street since the 1940s, on a corner between the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Natural History Museum. A remainder bookshop operated on the site from 1996, and since 2010 it has run under new ownership as South Kensington Books, managed today by Charlotte and Dave. Stock leans toward visual arts, architecture and photography, alongside history, poetry, music, biography, cookery and fiction, much of it sourced through remainder warehouses and sold at reduced prices next to new titles. The shop holds an official partnership with author James Norbury, stocking signed copies of his books. Open seven days a week, Monday to Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday 11am-7pm and Sunday midday-7pm, it continues to operate from this single Thurloe Street address rather than as part of a wider chain, serving both local residents and visitors to the museum quarter.
