Clwb Ifor Bach operates from three floors of a building on Womanby Street in Cardiff city centre, having opened in 1983 as a members' club for Welsh speakers. It grew into one of the city's principal small live music venues, hosting Welsh acts such as Catatonia and Super Furry Animals early in their careers alongside touring bands and club nights across its stages. The organisation became a registered charity in 2019 and took over running the annual Sŵn music festival in 2018, alongside its regular gig and club programme. It remains one of the few independently run venues on Womanby Street, a strip that has seen several neighbouring venues close under redevelopment pressure. Programming spans Welsh-language nights, touring indie and electronic acts, and club nights through the week, with capacity split across a ground-floor bar, main room and upper floor.
