Ellesmere House

Ellesmere House is a Victorian townhouse on South Street in Castle Cary, built in the 19th century by a local industrialist and run as a bed and breakfast by Melanie and Martin. Rooms are spread across three floors and individually furnished, and the building keeps original details including a carved wooden butcher's door in the kitchen, period door furniture, stained glass over the front entrance and a servants' bell that still works. Breakfast runs to homemade muesli and granola, fresh croissants and a full English made with meat from The Thoroughly Wild Meat Company. The Macmillan Way footpath crosses land next to the house, on the edge of farmland belonging to The Newt estate.
