Fountain Cafe

Fountain Cafe has traded from 118-120 Main Street in Alexandria since 1961, seating around 70 customers in a dining room decorated with stained glass and flower displays. The menu centres on an all-day breakfast served with tea or coffee, alongside bagels, sandwiches and sweet treats aimed at both regulars and visitors passing through on the way to Loch Lomond. The café opens Monday to Saturday from 9am to just after 5pm and is closed on Sundays. Over more than six decades of trading it has become a fixture of Main Street, drawing custom from several generations of the same local families as well as tourists. It remains a single, independently run café rather than part of a chain, and its long-standing presence on Main Street makes it one of the older continuously trading food businesses in Alexandria.
