Lodestone Creative

Lodestone Creative is a community interest company based at 14 Meadowbank Street in Dumbarton, incorporated in October 2016 to support creative and cultural activity across Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven. The organisation runs pottery and ceramics workshops alongside other craft classes, and lets affordable studio space to local makers and artists. In one recent project, it hosted a ceramicist's short residency at Bowling Harbour, where kilns were built on site from clay dug out of the Clyde estuary along with bricks and driftwood, drawing on the area's shipbuilding and whisky-distilling past for inspiration. Classes are open to adults and children of varying ability rather than restricted to trained artists. As a not-for-profit social enterprise, income from workshops and studio rents is put back into running further community sessions across the town.
