Sweeney's Cruise Co operates passenger cruises on Loch Lomond from a pontoon in the centre of Balloch, opposite the railway station. The Sweeney family has worked boats on the loch since the 1880s, moving from steam launches and rowing boats to a fleet that now includes the vessels Silver Dolphin, Astina, Silver Marlin and Osprey. John Sweeney runs the business today with his wife Catherine and their three sons, continuing four generations of family ownership. The core offer is the Experience Cruise, a one-hour loop of the loch's southern basin, alongside a two-hour Island Discovery Cruise taking in Inchmurrin, Inchcailloch and the loch's other islands, plus seasonal sunset sailings. Prices start from around £13.50 for adults. Sailings run to a seasonal timetable rather than a fixed year-round schedule, so departure times vary by month. The business remains independently owned by the Sweeney family rather than tied to a larger operator, and is one of the longest continuously trading family firms on Loch Lomond.
