France Farm Shop trades from Church Road in Gartocharn, on the working farm the McKechnie family has run since 1959. Jim and Robbie McKechnie continue the practice of early morning trips to the fruit market to stock the shop with fresh salads, fruit and vegetables, including seasonal and imported produce, alongside eggs, bacon, hams, jams, honey, pulses and dairy goods, plus Stornoway black pudding and Highland butcher meat. The shop opens for a single day each week, Friday from 9am to 5pm, with hours subject to change depending on the farm's other work. Its limited opening hours and directly farm-sourced produce set it apart from the area's supermarkets, and it has supplied both retail and wholesale customers from the same Gartocharn site for over sixty years. France Farm Shop remains independently run by the McKechnie family rather than as part of any farm shop group.
