George Thornton put his own name above the door of his gallery on Flying Horse Walk, continuing what he calls a tradition of owners standing behind their name as a mark of accountability. He deals predominantly in original contemporary art and sculpture, describing his space as the only Nottingham gallery to focus on that rather than prints or reproductions. Thornton offers a home approval service, letting buyers live with a piece before committing to it, and draws on more than twenty years of experience exhibiting local and international artists. The gallery opens Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5.30pm, with Sunday visits by appointment. Flying Horse Walk's small run of independent units gives the gallery a quiet setting just off Nottingham's main shopping streets.
