Ross Bradshaw ran Five Leaves as a publisher from 1995 and opened the bookshop down an alley off Long Row in 2013 — a radical bookshop in the proper lineage, strong on politics, Jewish studies, LGBTQ+ writing and counter-culture, that five years later took the British Book Awards' national Independent Bookshop of the Year title. The city has kept decorating it since: a Rainbow Heritage award in 2019, a Windrush award in 2022 for its community work, and an events programme that runs launches and talks through the summer of 2026 as this guide writes. Hidden down an entry like the best Nottingham things, and worth the two turns it takes.
