Sangita Tryner opened Delilah in July 2005 and moved it into a former Victorian banking hall on Victoria Street, where the marble and the mezzanine now serve the deli trade at full theatrical scale: more than a hundred and fifty cheeses, charcuterie cut to order, and sixty-eight seats for those who cannot wait to get their purchases home. Twenty years after her first national award, the Farm Shop & Deli Awards made 2025 a coronation — Best Retailer in the Midlands, Best Delicatessen in the UK, and Retailer of the Year outright. One proprietor, one room, two decades: the case for the independent deli, argued from a bank vault.
