Broadway Cinema opened on Broad Street in Hockley in 1990, formed when four Nottingham media organisations, including the long-running Nottingham Film Theatre, consolidated into a single independent venue with BFI and local council backing. It occupies a converted Wesleyan chapel that later served as a Co-operative education centre before its current use. The building holds four screens, ranging from 58 to 248 seats, showing a mix of new releases, world cinema and repertory programming, alongside a bar, cafe and media production facilities. Registered as a charity rather than a commercial chain, it operates as a single site with no sister cinemas elsewhere. It remains a focal point of Nottingham's Creative Quarter and its UNESCO City of Literature programming.
