The Hand & Heart is a back-street Peterborough local at 12 Highbury Street, built in 1938 by Warwicks in a late Art Deco style, and rated three stars on CAMRA's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors as one of the Real Heritage Pubs of Britain. A drinking corridor with a serving hatch links the main public bar, which has a real fire and a war memorial, to a smaller rear room. Up to six real ales, many from local breweries, are served by handpump or straight from the cellar, alongside crib, darts and dominoes. The pub closed for a period in December 2023 but has since reopened under independent ownership, and was listed again in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2026. Beer festivals with live music are held in its restored garden around St George's Day, midsummer and late September. It remains a cash-only pub, with entry after 10pm by prior arrangement.
