Marrs Plectrum Records is run by Matt Hawton from a garden shed at his home on Fulbridge Road in Peterborough, and was covered by the music press in 2014 as one of Britain's smallest vinyl record shops. The shed stocks new and secondhand vinyl across rock, prog, garage rock, krautrock, psych, punk, new wave, indie, jazz, folk, blues, world music, ska, reggae and electronic genres, and Hawton buys as well as sells collections. Rather than fixed shop hours, visits are arranged by appointment, mostly on weekdays, by phone or through the shop's Instagram account, reflecting its scale and origin as a hobby that grew into a trading business. Marrs Plectrum also lists and sells through Discogs, where it has built up seller feedback from customers well beyond Peterborough. It operates independently of the city's larger record shops, and continues to trade from the same Fulbridge Road address it opened at over a decade ago.
