Hay Deli

Hay Deli sits on Lion Street in Hay-on-Wye, the book town on the Powys–Herefordshire border, and does for food what the town's shops do for books: stocks it independently and well. Organic and local produce, cheese, specialist store-cupboard things, the makings of a picnic to take up the Wye or onto the hills — a single-site deli run by people who choose the stock themselves. In a town overrun with visitors for the festival and the bookshops, it is the shop the locals rely on year-round and the visitors are glad to find. Open through the week, and on Sundays when the festival is on. A good deli in a town that deserves one.
