Ian Kenny began framing his own artwork in 1976 and opened his first full-time framing business in Larkhall in 1989, adding the Hamilton shop on Quarry Street in 1992. He passed the Fine Art Trade Guild's Commended Framer exam in 1997, among the first framers in Scotland to do so, and chaired the Guild between 2015 and 2019. The Hamilton premises work as both a frame shop and a small gallery, hanging original and limited-edition prints by artists including Iain Faulkner, Gillian McDonald and Sir Quentin Blake. Framing covers textiles, sports shirts, medals and military memorabilia as well as artwork, handled by framers with eighty combined years of experience. The workshop holds all three Advanced Guild Certified Framer disciplines, a distinction few UK framers share. It remains independently owned across its two Lanarkshire premises.
