Judith Brown runs her jewellery and wirework studio from the top floor above Spout Brewhouse on St Edward Street in Leek, reached by stairs with no lift. She opened the studio in 2019 after twenty years teaching English as a foreign language and working as a freelance craft tutor. Classes are built around wire, beads, pliers and stitching and wrapping techniques, with projects drawn from nature, including wire seed heads, embellished flowers, wreaths, butterflies and insects. Sessions run as full days, half days or evenings, and are aimed at complete beginners, with techniques demonstrated before participants work at their own pace. Finished pieces range from standalone wire sculptures to wearable jewellery and hanging decorations, including seasonal Christmas designs. Groups are kept small so that Brown can give individual guidance throughout each session.
