Newark Castle Line operates river trips from Cuckstool Wharf on Castle Gate in Newark-on-Trent aboard the M.V. Sonning, an Edwardian steamer built in 1902 for passenger service on the River Thames before being brought onto the Trent. The family-run business has sailed from the same wharf since 1982, taking passengers on a roughly hundred-minute round trip past Newark Castle and along the surrounding riverbank. The vessel seats around eighty-five people on its open upper deck and a further thirty-five in a covered saloon below, and is also chartered for weddings, parties and school trips. It remains a single-boat, single-site operation based at Newark, with no other branches or vessels in the fleet.
