Peerless BrewingCo

Steve Briscoe founded Peerless in 2009 — the first brewery to open in Birkenhead since the old Birkenhead Brewery shut in the late 1960s, and the name is a doff of the cap to that firm's strapline, Peerless Ales and Stout. He runs it with his wife Rose from Pool Street, a single production site with a taproom and off-licence attached rather than a pub estate: the beer is the whole business. Saturday mornings the taproom opens to the town, which is a very Birkenhead hour to drink well.
