Penralley House is a five-bedroom bed and breakfast in Rhayader, run by owners Steve and Karen in a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse built around 1774 and extended in 1876. The building keeps its granite frontage and later yellow-brick rear, and looks over a large walled garden towards the hills at the edge of the Elan Valley. Each en-suite room is named for a tree, among them a four-poster in the Beech Room and king-sized beds in the Cedar and Oak rooms. Breakfast uses Welsh and local produce, and the house makes a base for walking and cycling the Elan Valley trails and the wider Cambrian Mountains. It sits on South Street a short walk from Rhayader's clock-tower crossroads and independent shops. It earned a Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice award in 2021.
