The Triangle Inn stands in Cwmdauddwr, across the Wye bridge from Rhayader, on the site of a tavern recorded since the 16th century under the name Tyfarn-y-Rhyd, or Tavern on the Ford, used by drovers walking cattle between Hereford and Aberystwyth. The current building is partly timber-clad and includes a low-ceilinged snug bar with an inglenook fireplace and log burner, plus a separate dining room with a bay window looking onto the garden and river. Real cask ales come mainly from Wye Valley and other regional breweries, served alongside a home-cooked food menu using ingredients from local farms where possible. A self-contained stone cottage opposite the inn is let out for holidays. The bar area is dog-friendly and there is outdoor seating overlooking the River Wye. It opens evenings only and closes completely on Sundays, with reviewers in 2025 and 2026 rating its food among the best in Rhayader.
