Stonehaven Shellfish and Boat Trips runs from the town's Old Pier, operated by a local part-time fisherman known to customers as skipper Steve. When he is not out creeling, the boat takes small groups on coastal trips along the cliffs south of the harbour, including views of Dunnottar Castle from the water that are not visible from the clifftop path. A shellfish safari lets passengers help haul creels and see crab and lobster caught close to shore, with a fish and chip cruise also offered on some sailings. Seals and seabirds, including puffins in season, are regularly seen along the route, though sightings are never guaranteed. Trips depend on tides and weather and run seasonally rather than year round. The business operates a single boat from Stonehaven harbour and is not part of a wider tour operator.
