Tan Y Ddraig occupies a shopfront on Castle Street, close enough to Conwy Castle to catch passing foot traffic, and combines a paint-your-own pottery studio with a small café. Customers choose an unglazed piece from the shelves, paint it at one of the studio's tables, and the workshop glazes and fires the work before it is collected days later. Alongside the walk-in painting sessions, the studio runs clay handbuilding and pottery wheel classes for those wanting to make rather than decorate. Pieces start from around fifteen pounds, with hot drinks, cakes and biscuits available at the counter while people work. The studio has both an indoor room and a covered courtyard, so painting sessions continue even when weather off the Conwy estuary turns wet, and it stays open across most of the year rather than closing for winter.
