The Smallest House in Great Britain is a 16th-century cottage on the quay at Conwy, built into a gap between two larger buildings with its rear wall forming part of the town's medieval walls. It measures just 3.05 by 1.8 metres and was inhabited until 1900, when its last tenant, a fisherman over six feet tall, moved out after the council judged the house unfit for habitation. It has been in the ownership of the same family for generations and operates today as a small visitor attraction, with a caretaker on hand to let visitors look inside its two rooms. The house draws more than 55,000 visitors a year and opens daily from Easter to October, with a small admission charge.
