The Crown is a free house with rooms on The Square in the downland village of Aldbourne, north-east of Marlborough. It keeps a changing range of cask ales under Cask Marque accreditation, alongside craft beers, ciders and wines, and serves home-cooked food from Sunday roasts to handmade pizzas and bar snacks. Five en-suite bedrooms, a mix of doubles, a twin and a family room, make it an inn as much as a village pub. Aldbourne was a wartime base for the American 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, later recorded in Band of Brothers, and the pub's 101 Bar keeps memorabilia from that period, with veterans and their families still visiting. It is independently run rather than tied to a brewery or pub company, and remains the working local at the centre of the village.
